Vuyk Engineering is an independent Maritime Design House specialising in high-quality engineering solutions across four key disciplines: ship design and conversion, methods engineering, equipment design and temporary steel design. We support shipowners, contractors, equipment suppliers, fabricators and shipyards in optimizing vessel and equipment designs, performance, and operational efficiency. We offer a wide range of design and engineering services to the maritime, dredging and offshore industries. From small, ad hoc assignments to fully integrated projects, our multidisciplinary expertise enables seamless coordination where needed, ensuring innovative, yet pragmatic, safe and fit-for-purpose solutions delivered efficiently and reliably.

Ship Design and Conversion
Vuyk is recognized by shipowners and contractors worldwide for delivering bespoke ship designs and conversions across the full project lifecycle, from concept development to detailed engineering. Having strong knowledge of shipyard processes and practical construction methods, we handle both newbuild designs and vessel conversions/modifications, always aligned with operational requirements and applicable regulations.
Temporary Steel Design
Vuyk designs project‑specific steel structures for maritime transport, installation and construction activities, including grillages, seafastenings, saddles and interface structures for heavy or sensitive cargos. Designs focus on structural behaviour, load paths, stiffness and friction characteristics and range from straightforward support structures to advanced engineered systems, integrated with vessel and mission equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Equipment Design
Vuyk develops mission‑critical equipment, including motion‑compensated systems, fallpipes, installation tools, handling systems and other project‑specific solutions. Activities cover concept development, strength and performance assessments, integration studies and detailed engineering support. Our engineering approach combines technical analysis with practical knowledge of marine operations, resulting in fit-for-purpose equipment designs.
Methods Engineering
Vuyk supports marine operations through methods engineering, focusing on transport and installation activities. Services include workability assessments, lifting and rigging designs, motion and stability analyses, and towing and mooring assessments. All methods engineering work is grounded in hydrodynamics and dynamic behaviour, ensuring a clear understanding of operational limits. Combining analytical expertise with operational insight, Vuyk delivers robust, realistic assessments that enable safe, efficient, and controlled project execution.
