Hull Vane^®

Hull Vane^® is a patented submerged hydrofoil mounted at the stern of suitable low- to medium-speed displacement vessels. By interacting with the vessel’s stern wave system, the Hull Vane^® generates forward thrust and reduces wave-making resistance.

Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and extensive expertise in hydrodynamics, Hull Vane BV customises and optimises each Hull Vane^® for the specific vessel and its operating profile. Depending on the vessel’s design, speed and operating conditions, fuel consumption reductions can typically range from 5 to 15%, with higher savings possible on particularly suitable vessels.

Hull Vane^® solutions are available in T-Series, U-Series and Special variants, allowing the technology to be adapted to different vessel designs and requirements.

Beyond fuel savings, Hull Vane^® can improve operational range, top speed and seakeeping, while also contributing to reduced emissions, improved comfort and lower lifecycle operating costs.
