Product Owner

Location: partly remote / partly Rotterdam

Start date: by mutual agreement

Salary: market competitive (€4,500 – €5,800 based on 40 hours, depending on experience and responsibilities)

Are you analytical, strategic, and ready to help shape the direction of an innovative maritime platform? If so, this is your opportunity to come aboard at Nauticworx, an ambitious start-up that is reshaping the maritime market.

Who are we?

Nauticworx.com is a platform that connects charterers, shipowners and brokers in the maritime sector at remarkable speed. Smarter, more sustainable, and entirely digital. As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Product Owner who can bring our product vision to life and elevate the development of our platform to the next level.

What will you do?

As Product Owner, you act as the link between users and internal stakeholders on the one hand (customers, marketing, sales, management) and the development team (developers, designers, testers) on the other. You translate insights and requirements into clear priorities and ensure that our platform evolves in a focused, value-driven way.

You set the direction, manage the product backlog and ensure that every sprint contributes to building a smarter, more scalable and more user-friendly platform. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining the product vision and strategy: determining the direction of the platform and the value proposition we aim to deliver to users.
  • Creating and prioritising the product backlog: features, improvements, technical tasks and bugs, making choices based on business value and user impact.
  • Stakeholder management: engaging internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, management, customer support) and external ones (users, partners) and translating their needs.
  • Maximising value: ensuring the development team works on the highest-value improvements (e.g. user experience, conversion, customer retention, scalability).
  • Collaborating with the development team: writing user stories and acceptance criteria, making decisions throughout sprints, monitoring progress and integrating feedback.

What do you bring?

  • HBO/WO level of education; a background in fields such as computer science, business, or engineering is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • At least 3–5 years of proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within an online platform, SaaS environment or digital service.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and a demonstrable track record in backlog management, stakeholder engagement and value creation.
  • Experience with Purple Unity or comparable tools is an advantage.
  • Technical understanding of the development process and the ability to communicate effectively with designers, developers and testers.
  • Affinity with the maritime sector is a plus; understanding the market and its dynamics will help you make an impact more quickly.
  • Strong command of both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • Independent, proactive and results-oriented. In a scale-up environment, taking initiative and contributing to growth is essential.

Why join us?

  • Flexible working: partly from home, partly from our office in the heart of Rotterdam.
  • A dynamic and entrepreneurial environment with room for personal initiative and development.
  • Real impact: you contribute to a platform that is transforming the maritime market.
  • A committed, ambitious team in which you will carry direct responsibility for the product and its outcomes.
  • International exposure and growth opportunities within an innovative start-up.
